The use of electronic monitoring as a tool for the Probation Service in reducing reoffending and managing risk

The newly released HMI Probation Report contains a number of important recommendations for Probation. We support the call for greater engagement of probation practitioners, seeking to ensure professional assessments of risk of harm, potential benefit and proportionality. Probation practitioners have a responsibility to contribute to the best outcomes for both individuals under supervision and the public as the use of electronic monitoring continues to increase. We hope that all practitioners will read this report.
