Anne qualified as a Probation Officer in the 1970's, and much of her working life has been in Probation, as a main grade practitioner and as a Senior Probation Officer. She previously worked for both a Community Rehabilitation Company, and for the National Probation Service. Currently, Anne is employed as a Practice Teacher Assessor with the Probation Service, working with trainee probation officers on the PQiP Programme.
Anne has been involved in the work of the Probation Institute since its inception, initially as a staff representative. She is an active member of the research and the training committees, including assisting in the organisation of professional conferences. Anne is also on the editorial board of Probation Quarterly, the journal of the Probation Institute.
In October 2020, Anne started a PhD at De Montfort University, evaluating professional identity in probation work, and considering the impact of political decision making on probation work.
