Optimal development for the children of prisoners? How children with a parent in prison are supported and why it matters

Jane Payler, Stephanie Bennett and Victoria Cooper at the University of Chichester and the Open University have published important research on the needs of children with a parent in prison.

The research report shows the lack of information about these children, lack of concern for their human rights and development - describing them as survivors of crime. The report seeks government, public and institutions' commitment to resourcing and building strengths based relationships with children with a parent in prison.
