Probation Institute CIO Annual General Meeting
We are pleased to report on a very successful first Annual General Meeting on Tuesday 4th October.
We are delighted to have appointed Professor Rob Canton, Professor in Community and Criminal Justice at De Montfort University, as our Patron. Rob brings huge expertise in academic work, research and learning in the justice sector. Author of several books about justice issues, Rob has recently published a new book "Punishment".
We are also delighted to have appointed three new Trustees:
Robbie Bourget - Robbie is a practitioner in the National Probation Service with a keen interest in social injustice, discrimination, diversity and how various factors interfere with these being dealt with appropriately. We are pleased welcome her current practitioner perspective to our Board.
Professor Loraine Gelsthorpe until very recently Director and Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the Institute of Criminology, University of Cambridge. Loraine has wide interests in the links between criminal justice and social justice, looking at race, gender and social exclusion, women and sentencing.
Jeanette Whitford - has a long-standing commitment to social justice. Formerly Chief Probation Officer in Avon and Somerset. .Jeanette is particularly interested in the regulation of professions and in the development of Codes of Practice. Jeanette has wide experience as a Trustee and is particularly keen on good governance and risk in charities.
