Lord Chancellor sets out her vision for the Probation Service
Here is the text of Shabana Mahmood’s speech on Probation, delivered on 12th February.
All responses to date have emphasised the importance of supervision and support for people presenting lower risk. We welcome the commitment to recruit a further 1300 probation officers but hope that HMPPS will pay careful attention to the HM Inspectorate of Probation report on ‘Recruitment, training and retention of probation practitioners’.
