The Probation Institute Research Project “Journeys to Harmful Behaviour" will shortly be published including findings and recommendations from 15 life histories of ex-armed services personnel. This important report will reach out beyond the justice environment to health, education, social care, housing and employers.

Published in January the Government's Veteran Strategy Action Plan makes a commitment to better understanding and support of veterans who come into the justice system. In particular, on page 38, the Action Plan commits to "Follow up on the findings from the Probation Institute’s upcoming research publication into ex-service personnel journeys into harmful behaviour. The MoJ will consider the findings from this research and explore what preventative interventions could be put in place to lower risk."
