Extra support for women in the criminal justice system
An announcement from the Government on their plans to reduce the number of women in custody by using early intervention and tackling the root causes of offending.
“We welcome the creation of the Women’s Justice Board and the bold ambition to close women’s prisons. We are particularly pleased to see the commitment to divert women away from the criminal justice system and to consider more appropriate alternatives to prison.”
