Launch Conference 7th February, London.
The Probation Institute and the Forces in Mind Trust are launching a research report into the Provision for Armed Forces Veterans under Probation Supervision in England and Wales. The research was commissioned by the Forces in Mind Trust and was conducted for the Probation Institute by the Centre for Crime and Justice Studies (CCJS).
This important work describes a significant group of veterans under the supervision of the National Probation Service or Community Rehabilitation Companies at any one time either on Community Sentences or on release from prison. The research shows progress in the identification of veterans in the criminal justice system, many of whom experience a range of social and mental health problems. The report points to some excellent projects around the country, but inconsistent provision of appropriate services. The Probation Institute will be using the report to stimulate and promote improvements through effective projects, good practice and consistency.
At the Launch Conference we are keen to consult attendees about the priority areas for improvement, to avoid duplication and make the best use of resources. We are inviting both armed forces organisations and criminal justice organisations to join us at the launch to work together to help us to plan our next steps. The launch will take place on the 7th February at the Resource for London, 356 Holloway Road, London, N7 6PA, from 11.00am to 3.00pm.
The event is free to access, with lunch provided, and we very much hope you will join us to receive the report and to enable us all to be part of the solution.
