Following a consultation period on the Probation Institute’s future governance with members and stakeholders, we have now published the arrangements which will be put in place during 2015.
The arrangements are formally set out in the document below:
Briefly, governance at the Probation Institute will comprise:
• A Representative Council elected by the Institute’s members.
• A Board of Directors, with Directors elected by the Representative Council.
• The Board’s Chair appointed by the Directors following open competition.
• A series of Committees to drive forward the Institute’s and the profession’s agenda, as a professional home for probation workers and as a centre of excellence on probation practice.
The Institute now has over 1000 members, providing critical mass for the new governance arrangements. The first step is to elect the Representative Council, which all members of the Probation Institute are eligible to be nominated to.
