Join your Institute today!

Welcome to our online application process for joining the Probation Institute.

  • We are here to help practitioners progress in their careers through our Professional Development Framework.  The framework also helps employers ensure employees have the right skills and trainers to plan courses that are relevant and effective.
  • Joining as a practitioner, you are entitled to use the letters ‘MPInst’ after your name and be part of our Registered Practitioners Directory. The Directory recognises four levels of knowledge and experience – from new starters at Level A right through to advanced practitioners at Level D.
    (See full details below.)
  • We also welcome, and have plenty to offer, peer mentors, volunteers, researchers, academics, students, associates and retired probation officers.
  • Through our professional networks, members get together to develop best practice in the areas they care about.
